The Job Jacket (production sheet)

The Job Jacket is the production sheet for a decorated order: everything the floor needs to make each line item, printed from the design record stored on the order. It does not read the live template to decide what was sold, so a template edited or deleted after the sale cannot change it.

Where it appears

  • The order screen. Open an order under WooCommerce > Orders. The Job Jacket box shows the full sheet, with a Print Job Jacket button at the top.
  • The orders list. A Decoration column next to the status shows how many decorated items an order has, how many things the estimate says to check, and "proof requested" when a proof was asked for.
  • The production queue. StitchPress > Production queue lists decorated orders and prints Job Jackets one at a time or in batches.

What it prints

At the top of each order:

  • Order number, Placed date and Customer;
  • Decorated items (for example "2 of 3") and Units to decorate.

For each decorated line item, on its own page:

  • the product name and quantity, and the SKU;
  • the garment Color and Size (and any other attribute on the WooCommerce line), labelled as WooCommerce labels them;
  • Method and Template (template ID and the revision the design was captured against);
  • Decoration total: the decoration charge exactly as it was stored at checkout, line total and per unit;
  • Fonts used: every typeface the line's text uses, or "none";
  • Customer proof: the picture of the approved proof round if there is one, otherwise a preview drawn from the design record;
  • a PROOF REQUESTED banner while a requested proof is not yet approved, or the approved round and date once it is;
  • the Customer note, if any.

For each placement on the line:

  • the zone, and "item 1 of 2" when a zone holds several;
  • Text with its font, or Artwork with a download link and a Prep required marker;
  • Size;
  • each Color: code, name and a swatch of the hex value;
  • Placement: center, width and rotation as percentages of the zone, for visual placement;
  • Arc, Layer and a MIRRORED marker when the design uses them;
  • a small drawing of the zone on the garment view with the placement outlined. It is a reference, not a proof.

Below the placements, the sheet prints the production estimate captured at order time (marked "ESTIMATED AT ORDER TIME") and any values the shop has confirmed (see below).

When something on the record disagrees with the current setup, the sheet says so in a boxed warning rather than guessing. Examples: "Template changed since this order, verify placement", a font no longer in the library, a color no longer on the chart, an artwork file missing from the server. Treat every warning as "check before producing".

Freely placed decorations

On a template with free placement, a decoration's Placement line gives its centre and width as a share of the garment photo (instead of the zone), and an Area line names the zone it sits in. A decoration outside every zone reads "Outside every named area · nearest: Front" and the jacket carries a flag asking you to check the position before production.

  1. Open the order and click Print Job Jacket. The print view opens in a new tab.
  2. Click Print at the top of the page, or use the browser's print command.

Each decorated line item starts a new page. The print view has no admin menus, loads the order's own fonts, and is not cached or indexed.

Batch print from the queue

  1. Go to StitchPress > Production queue. It lists orders with at least one decorated line in Processing, Awaiting proof approval or On hold, newest first, 20 per page.
  2. Use the Status filter if you only want one status, and click Filter.
  3. Tick the orders you want and click Print selected, or click Print all on this page.

The batch opens as one print document with a summary page (orders, decorated items, units, statuses, when it was generated). Each order starts a new page and each line item gets its own page. One batch holds up to 50 orders; select the rest as a second batch.

The queue's columns are Order, Date, Customer, Status, Decorated, Estimate, Proof and Job Jacket (a print link per row).

Printing on Letter and A4

The print view sets a 12 mm margin and no fixed paper size, so it fits whichever paper you choose in the print dialog.

  1. In the print dialog, set Paper size to Letter or A4.
  2. Leave Margins at Default.
  3. Leave Scale at Default or 100%.
  4. Turn on Background graphics (Chrome, Edge) or Print backgrounds (Firefox, Safari). Without it the color swatches print blank.

To keep a PDF, choose Save as PDF as the printer. The sheet is designed for black toner: rules and labels carry the meaning, not color.

If content is cut off at the page edge, see Job Jacket print clipping.

Confirm production values

Below the sheet on the order screen, Confirm production values records what the shop actually did: for embroidery, stitch count, backing, hooping and stitch file per placement; for screen printing, screen count, underbase and flash or cure per line, and mesh count and ink type per placement. Click Save production. The values are stored next to the estimate, with your user name and the time, and the estimate itself is never changed. This form is not part of the printed sheet.

Production estimates

When an order is placed, StitchPress stores an estimate for each decorated line: a stitch-count range and readable-text and hoop-size checks for embroidery; ink count, screen count and the white underbase for screen printing; artwork resolution and detail warnings for both. It is frozen at order time, so retuning your numbers later changes what you quote next, not what you already promised.

The numbers behind it are in StitchPress > Settings under Production estimates, Embroidery estimates and Screen-print estimates. Every field shows its built-in default; leave a field empty or at 0 to keep it. By default customers see estimates only as advice in the designer. Show the estimate on orders and emails (What the customer sees) puts the estimate on the order and in order emails as well.

StitchPress > Export CSV exports decorated orders as one row per placement, filtered by status, date range and method. The queue shows a production status per order (Queued, In production, Ready, Shipped), and a customer can Order again from My Account: the design is re-checked against the current template and re-priced at today's prices.
